What is Safer Soho?
Soho, at the heart of London's West End, is a colourful, vibrant and unique part of the city, home to restaurants, bars and shops and hosting thousands of residents, businesses and other visitors every day.
All this means that, sadly, it is also an area which attracts certain types of crime, including petty theft, drug-related activity, and unlicensed sex premises. We are working hard with local residents and businesses to crack down on this illegal activity, whilst still preserving the unique character which has made Soho so famous. Safer Soho Business Partnership Crime and the fear of crime have a significant negative impact on the profitability of YOUR business. We can help you to reduce shoplifting, alcohol related disorder, anti-social behaviour, street drinking, begging and theft from YOUR customers. The SaferSoho Business Partnership is a crime reduction scheme run in partnership with the Metropolitan Police Service and Westminster City Council. By joining the scheme you can benefit from: • Access to the SafetyNet digital radio network allows you to contact other businesses and the local police quickly and efficiently meaning that anti-social behaviour and disorder issues can be reported and solved as quickly as possible. You will also receive advance warning of criminals who may be approaching your business premises. • Benefit from direct radio communication with the Westminster CCTV centre used by the police and council to identify and crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour in the city. • Get shared information and intelligence from police and the council about enforcement activity, court results (including ASBOs issued), follow up on specific cases and individuals to watch out for. • Share CCTV footage and images with other businesses and the police via a secure online portal, so that persistent offenders can be easily identified and arrested, and that your staff the information they need to be vigilant • Report low-level anti-social behaviour online allowing the local police team to deal swiftly with the concerns that you raise. • Get free worksafe violence training, so that your staff can feel confident that they are safe and well informed about how to deal with any anti-social or violent behaviour they might encounter. • If you are a licensed premises, joining the SaferSoho Business Partnership can also help you meet your legal obligations to contribute to reducing crime and disorder in and around your premises.
